85% of Google Users Avoid PPC ads!

Submitted by Andrew on Monday, 29 December 2008No Comment

Statistic show that 85% of all Google users will avoid Sponsored Links or “Pay-Per-Click” (PPC) when surfing the internet.  The same report states that this percentage is increased to 92% of Google users who are seeking a service or high-end product.

Here is a thermal image of the areas that users click on a typical Google Search Results Page.  The yellow area is sponsored results from Pay-Per-Click ads and the orange area (and between the two) represents the Organic Search Results obtained through ethical SEO practices.  Notice the activity is almost all on the top (3) organic results and the PPC ads see very little activity.

Why do these users avoid the Sponsored Links?  It’s quite simple, because they have no value in terms of credibility.  These links are bid on through Google’s Adwords program and anyone can win the placement with a the highest bid.

The “buying market” is interested in working with a respectable company and thus will focus their research to the organic results, which cannot be purchased and are viewed as more credible in nature.

Because there are only (10) organic results on the first page of Google, these are very sought-after positions and with the birth of so many commercial websites, it is difficult to get and maintain rankings for keywords that are known to produce traffic.

Here’s the kicker; since the majority of the internet community that is actively involved in an SEO are looking for ALL TRAFFIC to build a marketplace for advertising revenues, it is extremely effective for a niche market industry or local business to gain high rankings in a relatively quick timeframe with a proper SEO plan.
