How to remove Spyware and Malware

Malware is software designed to damage a computer system. Computer professionals use the term Malware to refer to a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program codes. The term “computer virus” is also used sometimes.

Spyware is a type of malware that is installed on computers. It collects information about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user. It is secretly installed in ones computer.

Ways to remove Spyware and Malware

Sometimes you may know that a certain program is spyware. In that case it could be removed manually. For Windows users, you can remove specific applications by going to your control panel and selecting the “Add/Remove Programs” function. There will be programs listed. Click on the program you believe to be spyware and select “Remove”. Make sure to restart your computer after the removal.

While in “Safe Mode” you can manually remove spyware by following the below steps

  • Click the “Start” button, which is on the bottom left hand corner of the desktop.
  • Then scroll the mouse up to the “Control Panel” button and double click this button.
  • The Control Panel window will open,
  • Double click on the “Add or Remove Programs”
  • The “Add or Remove Programs” window will open and will provide you with list of programs
  • Then search for the spyware software that was installed onto your computer. Usually they will have names that are associated with advertising such as Dealhelper or Bonzibuddy. Highlight it by clicking it once
  • Post the previous step click the “Change or Remove” button, and follow the instructions to remove the spyware from your computer.
  • Then reboot the computer
  • Block Spyware Manually in Internet Explorer

To block spyware manually in the Internet explorer follow the method mentioned below

  • Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  • Click on the “Tools” button, which is located at the top of left hand of the page.
  • Then double click on the “Internet Options” button, and a window will open up.
  • Then click on the “Privacy” tab and scroll down to the “Edit” button at the bottom right side of the page.
  • The “Per Site Privacy Actions” window will open then you can add the addresses of the websites that you which to block.
  • By Clicking “OK” twice it will then save the changes you have made.

To Block Spyware Manually in Firefox Browser

  • Go to ‘TOOLS’ then ‘OPTIONS’ after opening the browser
  • ‘GENERAL’ on the left, then click the ‘Connection Settings’ button below. Choose ‘Manual’ proxy configuration from the list given
  • Check the ‘use the same proxy’ checkbox.
  • Click OK, and then OK again to close.
