If you are just getting started in your search engine optimization efforts and want to avoid having to do things twice or sometimes even 4 and 5 times you will want to read over this general SEO strategy I have developed to be friendly for beginners and is written in easy-to-understand context.
Here is a good starting point for your SEO Strategy
Please know to be patient and devoted to your optimization process as it is never ending and changes may take up to 6 weeks before you see any progress because that is how often Google “stops in” to check your site.
STEP 1: Validate Your Site
The first and foremost step to proper optimization is to check your existing code and css styles sheets for errors that may hinder the users ability to see and use your site correctly. Browsers are tightening their belts on valid code and I suggest that everyone look at making sure their website code (at least all your landing pages) are valid and contain no css styles errors.
After you have corrected any errors within your site it is time to strat implementing a program to increase your online presence.
Step 2: Oragnize Your Code
Spiders read code much the same way we read a book and disorganized code can be difficult for them to understand. Keep in mind that search spiders do not have logic or the ability to read context (at this time) and rely on the coder to provide them with clean and well organized code. This is also simply a good practice. It makes things much easier in the long run and will save a lot of time in the future.

STEP 3: Create a Sitemap
A sitemap is like a Table of Contents for your website. It is not so much as necessary to make this very aesthetic or even user-friendly. It is, however, important to have a current sitemap on your website because this is the easiest way for the spiders and Googlebots to navigate throughout your site and collect all the information they need to list your site accordingly.

STEP 4: Be Accessible!
I am a firm believer in a “door to knock on” being at every turn. Online is a fast-paced environment and very impulse-reactive. It important that you CAN close the deal the moment you CAN close the deal!
